That “strang” or dental floss as the rest of the world knows it

I’ve never set very good examples for my children.  I’m not boasting, I’m quite ashamed.  Words fly from my mouth, I raise my voice and I am definitely over-weight.  Add to that a post I wrote yesterday entitled, ‘Bama Belle, Southern Charm or Fake and you will know exactly why this is funny…on so many levels….

dental floss boy

Yes, the kid is flossing his teeth.  He has a collection of dental floss and he loves the stuff.  He is constantly asking for the flavored kind, any flavor will do.  Tonight though, he had a piece of chicken stuck between his front teeth.  I watched him struggle to get it out with his tongue, then is finger *shutter* and then I asked exactly what the problem seemed to be……..and that’s when he said it…..

“where’s some of that strang”

And, with that, I give you a five year old that wants to floss his teeth and will ask me to do it if he thinks he can get me to do it for him…

We did foster the love of brushing teeth in this house.  We started when they were babies letting them gnaw on one in the tub.  Every time they got in the tub, we finished our bath off with some toothbrush gnawing.  It was just something they learned to ask for.  Now they do not use it in the tub anymore but they are really good about brushing and if I weren’t afraid to jinx myself I’d tell you that neither of them has ever even had so much as a cavity scare………

And, I add that with my ability to set examples not because I don’t brush my teeth, ha, but because my husband and I have always had dental issues.  And, my mother and father did as did his.  I truly believe that some issues are just genetic.  I’ve had very little dental work done as an adult.  Most of my problems (and my husbands too) occurred at the onset of puberty…which is fairly common I understand especially when the problem is genetic.

So, brush on brother and I will get you some more strang!
